Fon Lim Obituary

FON L. LIM, age 84, died in the comfort of his own home on Saturday, November 11, 2006, while peacefully taking his mid-day nap. He was born November 26, 1921, in Toisan, China, a village province of Canton, China. At the age of sixteen, he arrived in America with his brother, Yot Lim. Upon their arrival, they met with their father, Quong Lim, and worked hard at his restaurant, building their foundation and education together as a united family. During this time, he studied hard and began training in photography as an intern at a well-known photo studio. With his dedication and passion for perfection, he became General Motor's professional portrait photographer for twenty-five years. As a strong, kind husband, father, and leader who always put family first, he opened New China, one of the then top Chinese restaurants in Michigan, with his brother. After many years of success, Fon retired and moved to Sugar Land, Texas, to raise, care, and share his loving devotion to his family. He is survived by his wife, Rosanna; son, Alex and wife Joanne, all of Texas; daughter, Susie and husband Bob; and four grandchildren, Rheyn, Starr, Sky, and Hale, all of Michigan; daughter, Lisa and husband Gary; and granddaughter, Sarah, all of Alabama; brother, Yot and wife Elayne, of Las Vegas; niece, Leslie; nephews, Mike and Curtis, all of California; niece, Christine, of Michigan; sister-in-law, Susanna and husband Vincent; nephews, Christopher and Brian, all of Illinois; sister-in-law, Linda, of Michigan; niece, Kelly, of Seattle; and nephew, Steven, of California. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, November, 16, 2006, at Earthman Southwest Chapel, 12555 South Kirkwood, Stafford, Texas.
