Frank Burge Obituary

Frank Linay Burge
10/27/1928 - 04/18/2024
Frank Linay Burge, age 95, of Houston, Texas passed away peacefully at his home on April 18, 2024. Born on October 27, 1928, in Vail, Iowa to Frank and Carrie Burge, and was one of six siblings. He was voted by his peers as Valedictorian for his senior class.
Frank then attended Northern Illinois State University where he also played Semi-Pro football for a Chicago team. He was drafted by the Air Force and served four years while being assigned to Okinawa during the Korean War. Frank was very proud to serve our country. Returning home he was assigned to Ellington Air Force Base for his last year, during this year he took night school classes to receive a Cosmetology license and embark on a successful career in the Hair and Spa Industry with his wife Ginny. Beautique Day Spa and Salon was established August 1, 1956, and it successfully continues today at 5520 Weslayan. His family, friends, employees and customers were the joy of his life. His love ran deep to all.
His passion for guiding his children, grandchildren and employees to be the best they could be in all aspects of life was a commitment to himself that he cherished and strongly believed in. Frank Burge was a mentor to many. Providing the best for Beautique's customers was unwavering.
Frank is survived by the love of his life, Ginny of 73 years. His children and their spouses were his pride and joy, Frank and Sheryl Burge, Susan and Adam Finn. His love for his grandchildren was insurmountable. Joseph Finn and Linay Burge were two people who he was so proud of. He mentored both till his last days. His love they will feel forever.
All Frank's family, friends, employees and customers will have such wonderful memories to carry on because of the incredible man he was.
The Burge and Finn families are grateful to the Patriarch of our family. We are all better people because of him. A fun statement dad made about five years back, "I came into this world on a horse and buggy, I'm going out electric." He bought a Tesla!!!
Funeral will be held at First Presbyterian Church on Monday, April 29, 2024,
2:00 p.m., 5300 Main St., Houston, Texas 77004. In lieu of flowers, donations to Nehemiah Center will greatly be appreciated. His love for the kids was infectious. Frank and Ginny Burge were good neighbors on Brompton Road for many years and helped with our neighborhood parties.

I grew up with the Burge family as neighbors and friends. We all went to the Beautique growing up and as adults. They are all such wonderful people and I am so sorry for the family's loss.

I have had the good fortune of being a client of Beautique Salon In Rice Village since we moved to Houston in 2003. Mr. Burge was always present and always cheerful. I later got to know both of them personally and I will always treasure that memory. They were both true gems and so very kind.
My sincerest condolences to
Mrs. Burge and her family.

Having been a client of Frank Burge for only 27 years is not saying much BUT I got there as soon as I could! And what an experience. Mr. Burge was many things but a gentleman doing it all. Always greeted me with something funny like he was glad to see me. Having been part of a longtime family business, I know that you cannot always make every customer happy but he sure tried his best!
Another thing that stands out to me was that his employees respected him, so much so that they stuck around for long periods. He and his family treated them well.
His family adored him and it was obvious that he and Ginny had a longtime love affair.
I will miss him but I am certain that the succession of leadership
will continue as before with Frank and Susan.

I was one of the legions of Rice "girls" in the early
`60s who relied on Mr. Burge & his staff to keep our hair looking picture perfect for every occasion. I continued to rely on him & Beautique well into my own retirement, by which time he was a beloved & well respected friend. My heart goes out to his family at this time. Mr. Burge will be missed, a true Houston leader, a real gentleman.
