Frank Dannenbaum Obituary

Frank Dannenbaum
05/04/1936 - 01/11/2023
Frank writes: I was born in Houston in 1936 to parents Nathan J. and Irma L Dannenbaum. I am survived by my cherished wife Lourdes Garrido, children Eric Dannenbaum (Martha Perez), Claire Dannenbaum (Steve Bade), Marna Dannenbaum, grandchildren Simon Dannenbaum, Elia Milan (Troy), Zaine Keneally, great grandchild Max Milan, and Harriet Neiman (David Mersky) devoted mother of my children, and Marus Garrido (mi Cuñada) Luis Alfredo & Silvana.
I am fortunate to have grown up in a time when kids put locks on their school lockers, not to deter theft of belongings, but to discourage pranks. I was raised surrounded by a range of wonderful aunts, uncles and cousins, now mostly deceased.
Educated in Houston Public Schools, attended Tulane University and graduated from UT-Austin. Trained as Combat Engineer Unit commander and served as reservist in 75th Maneuver Area Command and brief stint as Assistant Professor of Military Science at UH. Volunteered in several civic organizations at hands-on, grass roots levels.
For the most recent decades of my working life, provided specialized products and consulting services to public water supply systems. Peak experiences in life include meeting each of my children for the very first time, motorcycling through the aspen clad mountains in Colorado while listening to classical music from public radio in Denver, seeing the Grand Canyon for the first time, witnessing the grandeur of the western states and provinces, lying on a river bank watching shooting stars traversing the sky, hanging out with seasonal friends by the pool in Puerto Vallarta. I express appreciation for all the wonderful people I have met along the way to include but by no means limited to Sam Godfrey, Elliott & Isa Egglestone, Neil Paine, Massoud Bastankhah & Family, and John & Patricia A. Groweg.
Also it might be out of date or naïve, but I still hold to the Four Way Test that Rotary International applies to the things we say and do:
It is the TRUTH? It is FAIR to all concerned? Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

I haven't seen Frank for many years, but am so sorry to hear the sad news of his passing. His father and my mother were first cousins, and I have many happy memories of Nathan and Irma over the years. Frank wrote a beautiful obituary for himself that shows how appreciative he was for all the people and places he got to experience. A lovely legacy.
