Fred Peavey Obituary

Fred Morse Peavey
1950-2017
Fred passed away on June 1st 2017 at the age of 67. He was the beloved husband of Valerie Peavey for 43 years. He was a devoted father to his sons Michael and Brandon Peavey. His pride and joy were his 4 grandchildren Jaycie, Bailey, Katie, and Kamryn. He very much loved his daughters in law Chantelle, Shannon, and Kirsten.
Fred graduated from Indiana State University with a Bachelor of Science in Broadcasting: Radio, TV, and Film in 1976. He worked in the radio business from the age of 17 and in Houston market for the last 33 years. In his career he held the positions of On Air Personality, Sales Manager, General Manager, Research Director, Sr. Project Manager, and Marketing Director.
As much as Fred loved his work in the Radio business there was 1 thing that he loved even more. That was his family. When Fred's sons were young and participating in youth sports he would occasionally act as an assistant coach but what enjoyed doing more than that was being the announcer at their baseball games. He had so much fun coming up with funny little nicknames for all the players and was supportive of all the kids. But it wasn't until his grandchildren came around that his heart became complete. He loved taking them to the movies, giving them Pop Pop cookies, and attending any event they had whether it was a school play, awards banquet, or any of the various sporting events they were involved in. From football to baseball to soccer to basketball to volleyball he attended whatever he could. The Grandkids were what he really loved and looked forward to seeing them every chance he could. He also loved spending time with his daughter in laws (His Girls). He loved taking them on their annual Christmas shopping trips for MeMa.
Fred is survived by his wife Valerie Peavey, his children Michael Peavey and wife Chantelle, Brandon Peavey and wife Kirsten, daughter Shannon Van Cott, 4 Grandchildren, Jaycie Peavey, Bailey Peavey, Kathryn Peavey, and Kamryn Peavey. His mother Iris ( Sunshine ) Peavey, sister Beth Wolf, nephew Traver Wolf, and niece Tara Secrest.
Our family would like to thank all of the MICU nurses and staff at Memorial Hermann Medical Center for the care and support that they showed Fred. We would also like to thank our friends Denise, Paul, and Teresa Schneider for all of the help and support you have shown our family in these trying times. We definitely would not have made it through all of this without you. We love all of you dearly.
We will be having a Celebration of Fred's life on Saturday June 10th between 2-6pm at the Braman Winery at 3421 FM 359 Rd, Richmond, TX 77406. We request that in lieu of flowers please make a donation in remembrance of Fred to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Salvation Army, or any other charity of your choosing.

My thoughts and prayers for Val, the "boys" and grandchildren. I still remember the fun times our three son's and the two "Peavey" boys had all through there younger years of baseball and football. Many Saturdays spent cheering them all on in their endeavors. Fred was always so supportive of all the youngster's that were involved in sports, and we all could laugh at the comic side of being parent's to teenage guys. Our son's are now grown and are still life long friends. Fred and Val taught their son's character, faith and love of family. I know that God has welcomed Fred home, he will be missed by family and friends. Our faith tells us to rejoice as he fulfilled his life's purpose and is now in his heavenly home, I know the Lord welcomed him and said "Fred job well done. Hugs and prayers to all the Peavey family.

Fred was a true class act! I had the privilege to work with him at Cox Media Group and the dedication and work ethic he showed was second to none. Fred had a true passion to be a team player and cared deeply for the AE's and clients he supported. Fred will be dearly missed!
