Genevieve Bailey Obituary

GENEVIEVE BARRAS BAILEY Genevieve Barras Bailey passed away Sunday, March 19, 2006. Genevieve was the oldest of five siblings, born in Port Arthur, on November 26, 1924, to Luc and Maude Barras. Genevieve and Herbert Bailey were married on February 14th, 1947 at St. James Catholic Church in Port Arthur, Texas. In 1959, they relocated to Houston, where they founded a family owned business, Lighting Incorporated. She is preceded in death by loving husband, Herbert Littleton Bailey, parents, brother, Gerald Barras and sister, Dolores Garsee. Genevieve is survived by children, six grandchildren, Jason Bailey, Aubrey, Addison, Hannah and Dylan Bailey, Caroline Wilson; dearest sisters, Iris Foreman and Audrey Johnson; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Donal and Joann Bailey and sister-in-law Oneida Clifton as well as many loving nieces and nephews. The family will receive visitors Tuesday, March 21, 2006 from 6 8:00 pm with Vigil Services starting at 7:00 pm in the J.B. Earthman-Tanglewood Chapel (5740 San Felipe). Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 am, Wednesday, March 22, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with Rev. Donald Blanchard presiding. Rite of Committal to follow at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association located at 2242 West Holcombe Blvd. 77030 (713-266-6400) or any Hospice program.

Dear Brad, Tim, Donna and Families,

I am sorry that I didn't know until today that Ginny had passed away. Herb & Ginny were such good friends. Even though I haven't seen Ginny since moving to Austin, I think of them both often. My condolences to all of you.

To the Bailey Family:

I just want all of you to know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. Even though I was the youngest one besides Tim I remember the fun times we had on Fairhope and posing for the group picture, (we still have the picture) 30 years later. Again, my sincere condolences.

Brad,

All of us are here for such a short time. I am sure your mom was a sweetheart and a fiesty lady. With such a competitive son how could she have been anything else. She now can watch her kids all the time in a much nicer place. God Bless!

Brad and Tim:

My dominant memory of your mother making the Castlewood/Fairhope street kids lemonade on a real hot summer day. I remember her expressing her opinion of a new musical group called the Beatles. (It was not complimentary.) I remember her being a wonderful mother to a bunch of neighborhood kids.

Our families came together again five years ago when Carol taught my son at the School for Little children. Two different generations of Bailey women have helped Davidson boys.

To all of you, my condolences and my thanks.
