Gilbert Ahlhardt
1936-2022
Gilbert Ahlhardt passed away on April 1, 2022 at the age of 85. Gilbert was born on August 21, 1936 at the Greenvine community in Washington County, Texas. The first five years of his education was spent at the Greenvine Public School. Thereafter, he attended public schools at Burton, Texas, graduating from Burton High School in 1955. After graduating from high school, Gilbert attended Blinn Junior College in Brenham, Texas where he graduated in 1957. He also attended the University of Texas and the University of Houston. To fulfil his military obligation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force Reserve for a six-year term, he spent time at Lackland A.F.B., Chanute A.F.B., Illinois and Ellington Field. His lifetime occupation was in the design, manufacture and installation of commercial food service equipment.
Gilbert and Shara Lynn Kelm became acquainted with each other in 1957. They were united in marriage on December 6, 1959 by the Rev. Ray Bennett at the Greenvine Baptist Church in Washington County, Texas and were members of this church. After marriage, they made their home in Houston, Texas. Two children were born to this marriage, Brenda Lynn Ahlhardt and Clifford Wayne Ahlhardt.
In 1961, Gilbert and Shara Lynn united with the Mangum Oaks Baptist Church of Houston. During their nearly 20 years as members of this church, Gilbert served as Sunday School Teacher, Superintendent and was ordained as a Deacon of this church. In 1982 they united with Houston's First Baptist Church. At this church, Gilbert served as an associate Bible Class teacher and a Deacon. While serving at these churches, they became supporters of the Star of Hope Mission and serving as leaders in planning, directing and presenting selected, scheduled evening worship services at the Men's Development Centers of this organization.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Olga Bernshausen Ahlhardt; brother Elwood Ahlhardt; sister Alice (Norma Lee) Ahlhardt; and an un-named baby brother who died in infancy. He is survived by his wife Shara Lynn; and his children, Brenda Lynn Haines with her husband Marty Haines, Clifford Wayne Ahlhardt and his wife Cheryl Cook Ahlhardt; Grandchildren Brian Haines with his wife Alicia Dale Haines and Faith Ahlhardt; Two great-grandchildren, Callen and Claire Haines. Also, his brother George Ahlhardt Jr. with his wife Pat; sister in law Alice Ahlhardt; and numerous other relatives. In addition, he leaves behind numerous spiritual brothers and sisters in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. May the Lord bless and keep those he leaves behind, may the Lord make his face to shine upon them and be gracious to them, may the Lord lift up his countenance upon them and grant unto them a peace that passes all human understanding.
Visitation will take place at Houston's First Baptist Church Chapel at 10:45 am on Thursday April 7. Funeral Service will begin at 11:30 am with interment immediately following at Memorial Oaks Cemetery at 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas.
Pallbearers will be Brian Haines, Mike Ransleben, Dan Wade, David Trickett, James Goode and Dennis Goggins.
