Gordon Bangs Obituary

Gordon E. Bangs
1924-2017
Gordon E. Bangs passed away on June 28, 2017 in Sugar Land, TX. He was born on October 22, 1924 in Wauconda, IL to Andrew and Marguerite Bangs. As a child, the family moved to Amarillo, TX, where he completed high school. Gordon served in the Army during WWII. After his military service, he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Colorado.
He began his career working on solid and liquid propelled rockets. He could say that he was, indeed, a rocket scientist. Gordon redirected his career as a chemical engineer in the petroleum industry, working in locations around the world. He loved world travel and derived great joy from his experiences in the many countries he lived in and visited. After retirement, he continued his education and began a real estate partnership with a close friend.
Gordon was proud to be a Mayflower descendent, a Master Mason for 65 years, and a member of Emerson Unitarian Universalist Church. Bridge was a passion and he enjoyed the fellowship of playing cards with his friends.
Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, sister Muriel and his three wives, Anne, Erna, and Janice. He is survived by his nephew, Wesley Webster, and Marce, and niece, Donna Henry, and Lee.
At Gordon's request, no service will be held. His ashes will be interred in Fairmount Cemetery in Denver, CO. Donations may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Dr, Tampa, FL 33607.
