H.D. Graf Obituary

H. D. GRAF JR., 76, of Houston, TX passed away on Friday, March 5, 2004 at his home. A native of Houston residing in the La Porte/Seabrook area in order to be near his sailing and flying hobbies. He was the former President of Ace Distributing Company, a family business founded by his father H.D. Graf Sr. in 1927, and now run by his son, H. Douglas Graf. Member of Trinity Episcopal Church of Baytown, Houston Yacht Club, Bayport Aero Club and Texas City Radio Club. Active service U.S. Coast Guard in WWII, Air Force Reserve, Coast Guard Auxiliary and Aircraft Owners Pilot Association. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Kathleen; son Douglas Graf and wife Lelia; daughter Gloria Shirley and husband Grover; grandsons Jason Wayne Shirley, Gary Dean Shirley and wife Stephanie. Visitation to begin on Sunday, March 7, 2004 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Funeral Services to be held Monday, March 8, 2004 at 2:00 pm at the Trinity Episcopal Church, 2701 West Main Street, Baytown, TX 77520 with Reverend Nick Novak officiating. Interment to follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, P.O. Box 297153, Houston, TX 77297.
