Helen Flores Obituary

Helen Demaris (Hudspeth) Flores
1949-2022
Helen Demaris Hudspeth Flores died in Webster, TX on 05 February 2022 at 72 years of age. The youngest of three children of Chalmers M. "Hank" Hudspeth and Demaris De Lange Hudspeth, she was born in Houston, TX on 12 May 1949. Helen attended Lamar High School and graduated from Rice University. There she met José G. Flores, to whom she was married for 40 years until his death in 2017. After her retirement, she was active in numerous volunteer organizations, especially the Hermann Park Conservancy and animal shelters.
Helen offered particular support to those less fortunate than herself throughout her life. She loved animals—dogs, cats, and horses—and had special a rapport with them, and they with her.
Helen is survived by her two brothers, Dr. A. James Hudspeth (Dr. A. Maurine Packard, New York City) and Dr. Thomas R. Hudspeth (Ms. Ginny Mullen, Burlington, VT).
Friends may contribute in her memory to the Hudspeth Scholarship Fund at Rice University (6100 Main Street, Houston, TX 77005) or to a preferred charity. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
