Hilda Warner Obituary

HILDA DORIS WARNER, born April 14, 1915 in Hartford, Connecticut, died October 29, 2004 . She was preceded in death by her husband Edward, parents Lena and Bernard Levin, brother Leonard. She is survived by her children Andrea and Sandy Gaitz, son Barry , Grandchildren Brent and Becky Warner, step-grandchildren Jason, Russell & Amber Gaitz,. A self made woman, Hilda finished sixth in her high school graduating class but was unable to go to college because of the Depression, yet continued reading, studying and expanding her intellectual curiosity. Hilda helped type the English version of the prayer book that for years was used in conservative synagogues throughout Judaism. In 1952 they transferred to Buffalo, NY where she spent years working in Hadassah, sisterhoods and other organizations, typifying what a Jewish mother represents. After years of living in Florida, Hilda moved to Houton where she spent the last 9 years of her life. Family wishes to thank the staff at Seven Acres for their care. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Seven Acres Jewish Senior Services, 6200 N. Braeswood. Funeral services will be at 3:30 PM Sunday October 31, 2004 at the Emanu El Memorial Park 8341 Bissonnet.

Andrea and Barry,

Although I have never met either of you, I have always felt that I have known you from hearing our moms talk. I had the pleasure of spending time with your mom when she lived in Florida. I really enjoyed her. My mom and I were just looking at the recent picture she sent of Andi's family. She was so proud of all of you. My thoughts are with you all.
