Ilene Poitz Obituary
1924-2015
passed away July 22, 2015 in Houston, Texas at the age of 91. She is survived by her sister, Phyllis Hudson; her daughter, Diane Edwards; and her granddaughter, Kristin Edwards. Ilene leaves behind many special friends including her "Amigos." She will be greatly missed.
Ilene was preceded in death by her parents, Harold Percy and Gladys Montgomery, and her husband of 63years, Herbert. She and Herb were married on July 25, 1944 in Rock Island, Illinois.
She attended Spring Woods United Methodist Church, was a very talented artist, an avid golfer, and an enthusiastic participant in team bowling. She was also a wonderful homemaker and hostess. Herb and Ilene loved to go on cruises and had the chance to travel on at least nine or ten.
Ilene's family will be forever grateful to the many caregivers, physicians and dedicated friends that made the last year of her life as peaceful as possible.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 25, 2015 from 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM at Calvary Hill Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, July 26,2 015 in the Chapel of Calvary Hill Funeral Home with Rev. John Mark Benson officiating.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Lakewood Church of Houston or a charity of your choice.

Suzan and I wish to express our sympathy for the recent death of Ilene. The death of a Mom and Grandma is always so difficult. At the same time, we realize these last few years have not been easy because of the numerous health problems of Ilene. The pictures bring back wonderful memories of more fun times.
