Jack Kinard Obituary

Jack Dalton Kinard
1930-2017
Jack Dalton Kinard passed away on June 2nd, 2017. He was born on May 3rd, 1930, the son of Ollie and Arthur Kinard. Jack was raised in Dallas, TX and graduated from Southern Methodist University where he was an active member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. After graduating from SMU, he then served his country in the US Navy for two years where he was elected Honor Man. Jack's successful career in the floor coverings industry began with Armstrong before he joined L.D. Brinkman. He thrived at LD Brinkman, becoming the President and part owner, before starting his own company, Floor Zone LLC.
Jack married Daisy Flippen in 1956 and eventually settled down in Houston, where they built their family and long lasting friendships. Jack and his family have been members of the St. John the Divine Church since 1960. Over the years he served the church in numerous capacities, such as Financial Chairman of the Building Committee, Lay Reader, Lay Eucharistic Minister, and Representative of the Diocese Council. Jack was elected to the Church's Vestry, where he served twice as the Senior Warden.
Jack was active in his community. He served many years on the board of the After Dinner Players. Jack spent many volunteer hours serving the military and hospitaller order of St. Lazarus of Jerusalem, a chivalric and church affiliated organization. He was a member of various social organizations including River Oaks Country Club and the Carribbe Dance Club.
Jack is predeceased by his parents, his sister, Beverly Field, and his infant daughter Louisa Grace. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Daisy, his two daughters Elizabeth Thomas, husband Russell Thomas, Beverly Herbert, and his granddaughter Katherine Herbert. He is also survived by his nephews Joe Field, Tom Field and John Field.
The memorial service will be at eleven o'clock in the morning on Wednesday, June 7th at the Church of St. John the Divine, 2450 River Oaks Blvd where the Reverend, Dr. Clay Lein, Rector, is to officiate. Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the adjacent Sumners Hall.
In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contribution may be directed to the Memorial Endowment Fund of St. John the Divine Church, 2450 River Oaks Blvd or to the AD Players, 5420 Westheimer Rd.

May God bless and keep you all. Jack was my favorite boss. You never knew what to expect from Jack! I will never ever forget how gracious he was to my mother, who was blind, due to macular degeneration. Jack walked her around the office at LDB using very descriptive words so she got the picture of the business, even though she could not see it. Thank you Jack for giving me the opportunity to cut my flooring teeth at LDB. You will be missed by so many.

Dear Daisy, Elizabeth and Beverly,
my heart is broken to hear of Jack's passing. Jack took me in as young man and mentored me in the floor covering business, as he did with most of Houston! He was never to busy to stop and take time with me. He made me proud to be a part of the LDBrinkman family. Some of my fondest memories are of him at the Hoedown's in Dallas,he loved a good party. Thank you for sharing him with me, I was blessed to be his friend.

June 9, 2017

Blessings to the family......we have been with Jack for the past six or seven years....Although I never met him in person, I felt that I knew him as a friend! I had no idea that he was as old as he was.....He told us he would never retire.....a man of his word! May God Bless this man and his family!

Daisy, Its so hard to think that Jack is gone. He was a true friend and a mentor to me as he was for many. He introduced me to the floor business. If not for his help I probably would not have made it. He will be greatly missed.

My sincere condolences to the family
and friends during this difficult time.
There are no words that can ease the
pain of losing someone so beloved.
May you find comfort and peace in
knowing that your loved one is in
God's memory because those who pass on
"are precious in His eyes."

Jack was a great influence in my life and my friend. He encouraged me to break "the glass ceiling" in the flooring industry and mentored me through some pretty rough patches. He was a generous guy who never talked about or bragged about his good works.I called him "Daddy Jack" which always gave him a chuckle before asking me if I thought he was still the most handsome and well dressed man in the room!
Of course, he was...! I will miss his humor and his friendship.

To Jack's family: May the Lord's peace and presence be your deepest comfort during this very difficult time.
I absolutely adored Jack. He was always the perfect gentleman, so kind, always had a listening ear, always offering to help, just a genuinely good man. I will miss seeing his handsome face, hearing his music in his office and listening to his stories about his work, his life, his family and his many friends. He was a gift to so many of us.
