James Adair Obituary

JAMES P. "JIMMY" ADAIR was born on October 6, 1940 in Houston, Texas. He passed away on Sunday, April 9, 2006. He was the son of Paul N. "Red" and Kemmie Adair. Jimmy graduated from Jersey Village High School in 1958 and was active in the FFA. He was drafted in the U.S. Army and served his country in Fort Wainwright, Alaska from August, 1965 until he was honorably discharged in July, 1967. In his professional life, Jimmy was an oil well firefighter and was employed by his world renowned firefighting father, the late Red Adair. Jimmy traveled all over the world fighting fires and capping wells and also managed Red Adair Safety and Training teaching oil well safety and emergency training to the oil industry. Following the sale of Red Adair Company, Inc. in 1993, Jimmy became Vice-President of Adair Enterprises, Inc. Preceded in death by his father, Paul N. "Red" Adair, and sister, Robyn L. Adair, Jimmy is survived by his son, James Derek Adair, and grandson, Derek Scott Adair, of Richmond, and his mother Kemmie Adair, of Bellville. The funeral services celebrating Jimmy's Life will be Wednesday, April 12, 2006, 11:00a.m. in the Chapel of Crowder Funeral Home in Dickinson. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 11, 2006 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Crowder funeral Home in Dickinson. In Lieu of cards & flowers, memorials honoring Jimmy's memory may be directed to: Hospice Care Team, 1708 Amburn Rd., Suite C, Texas City, Texas 77591; Bay Area SPCA, P.O. Box 638, Kemah, Texas 77565; or to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, P.O. Box 4486, Houston, Texas 77210-4486.
