James Krause Obituary

James H. Krause, MD
04/03/1931 - 11/23/2025
James H. Krause, MD, a beloved physician, veteran, and man of steadfast faith, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2025, at the age of 94. Born on April 3, 1931, in Kansas City, Kansas, he grew up in Enid, Oklahoma, where he developed the foundational principles of integrity, compassion, and devotion to others.
Dr. Krause proudly served his country as a Captain in the United States Army, beginning a distinguished medical career that would span more than sixty years. As a gifted ophthalmologist, he dedicated his life to preserving and restoring sight, treating generations of patients with skill, kindness, and genuine care until his retirement at age 88.
A dedicated Methodist, Dr. Krause was a devoted member of First United Methodist Church and a pillar of the Adelphi Sunday School class, where he served as president on two occasions. His faith guided every aspect of his life, and he lived out the Gospel through quiet acts of love, generosity, and encouragement.
Dr. Krause was preceded in death by his cherished wife of 69 years, Betty Krause, who was the joy of his life and his constant companion in faith and service. He is survived by his loving family: sons Winston Krause of Austin; Greg Krause of Houston; and Michael Krause and wife Jeana of Kerrville.
He is also survived by his six grandchildren, Shelby, Travis, Wynn, Gus, Ryan and Hill, as well as eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will miss his gentle wisdom and warm smile. In addition to his family, he leaves behind a host of former patients, colleagues, and church friends whose lives were brighter because of his care and witness.
A memorial service will be held for Dr. Krause on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 2:00PM at First Houston United Methodist Church at 1320 Main Street, Houston Texas.
Rest now in the arms of the Savior you loved and served so faithfully.
