Jean Musgrove Obituary
JEAN "FLAMINGO" MUSGROVE Funeral services for Helen Eugenia Byars Musgrove, born February 24, 1937, were conducted Friday, April 9, 2004, at the Trinity Episcopal Church in Florence, Alabama. The Rev. Tim Murphy officiated. Burial followed in the Florence City Cemetery. Jean was a native of Montgomery, Alabama, where she was a member of Church of the Ascension. She was a graduate of Sidney Lanier High School, class of 1954, and attended the University of Alabama and Auburn University. Shortly after her marriage in 1967, Jean moved to Georgia where the family resided for a number of years. During the past two years, Jean and her husband lived in Houston, Texas, where she was a patient at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center until her death on April 6, 2004. Jean was an avid reader. She loved musicals, both stage and film, and acted in Montgomery Little Theatre productions. Her love of music sprang from sing-a-longs on cross-country road trips during her childhood. In later life, Jean enjoyed performing with her brother, Larry, not withstanding his frequent objections. Her concern for others was such that she never met a stranger. Jean enjoyed a life-long friendship with a special group of her high school classmates. It was through Jean's efforts that the endangered Plasticimo Flamingo was returned to its rightful position of prominence on the front lawns of America. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Crittenden Byars, Jr. and brother, Lawrence Crittenden Byars, III. Jean is survived by her husband, Robert Foster Musgrove, son, Byars Musgrove and wife Debbie, as well as a number of cousins. Pallbearers were Haig Wright, John Larkin Musgrove, Jr., Mac Musgrove, Allen Wall, William Musgrove, III, and William M. Williams with Jim Snow, Curt Taylor, Tony Cashiola, Douglas Daniels, and Jean's two Parrothead nieces, Cecily and Mary, acting as honorary pallbearers. The family would like to thank friends and staff of the M.D. Anderson Clinic fo thier love, concern and support. GHTA
