Jean Waanders Obituary
05/18/1928 - 11/29/2022
Jean (Ted) van Bloemen Waanders peacefully passed away on November 29, 2022 in Albuquerque, New Mexico at a age of 94. Born on May 18, 1928 (Bandung, Indonesia), his family repatriated from the Dutch East Indies colony to the Netherlands after surviving a Japanese occupation during World War II. He received his Mining Engineering degree from Delft University (Netherlands) after which he was employed at several engineering companies. He spent the majority of his career at Bechtel on international project assignments in the Middle East, Europe, South America and Africa. He lived in Lebanon, Norway, England and in 1979 was transferred permanently to Houston where he and his wife lived for the majority of his time. He loved music, dancing, playing guitar, working around the house, watch and play tennis, and enjoyed barbecuing his favorite dish Sate (Satay). He was a devoted and loving husband and father. He is survived by his wife Louise of 65 years, three sons (Bart, Ralph, Herb), seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
