Jeanne Moody Obituary
JEANNE LACY MOODY September 5, 1920 - November 8, 2006 Jeanne Allensworth Lacy Moody made a quiet and graceful transition in her home on Wednesday, November 8, 2006 at the age of 86 surrounded by her children. She was born on September 5, 1920 in Dallas, TX to Lester Holcomb Lacy and Tod Rice Lacy. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 58 years, William Dan Moody, her son Dale William Moody, her parents, brother and sister Jerry Lacy and Julia Lacy. She is survived by her son Michael Rice Moody and daughter-in-law Lisa Shackelford Moody, and daughter Tod Shannon Moody Castle and son-in-law Stephen Tait Castle, and grandchildren Michael, Sarah and Edward Moody, great grand-daughter Erin Taylor Moody, and extended family Bradley Castle, Julie Castle Fontana and great grand daughter Zoe Ophelia Evans. She attended The Hockaday School in Dallas, University of Texas, (Zeta Tau Alpha), and received her B. A. at Washington University in St. Louis. Jeanne had very diversified interests in her life. She loved gardening and entertaining and was a gracious hostess. She also tutored The Gillingham Method to dyslexic children in the fifties when little was understood about dyslexia. She helped initiate the prayer group of the new Saint Francis Episcopal Church in the sixties. She obtained her pilots license and instrument rating for private aircraft, and per the Houston Post newspaper, was touted by her teachers as the best female student of their experience. She was a terrific tennis player and loved the game. She studied art with Jose Perez and became a wonderful artist in the seventies. Her home is full of her paintings. She was a passionate political debater with her friends. Most importantly, she was deeply spiritual with a very nurturing and loving nature and shared a beautiful philosophy on life with her family and friends. Jeanne was a most loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and devoted teacher and friend. We will miss her intelligent repartee, her witty sense of humor, her engaging charm and spirited personality. We are grateful she is released from pain and frustration and has been reunited with her precious husband, son, parents, family and friends as they welcome her into a new spiritual life. The family would like to express their love and gratitude to our sweet Dorothy Johnson, friend and nurse; and to the many kind caregivers from Vista Care. We will celebrate Jeanne's life with a memorial service today, Friday, November 10, 2006 at 2:00 P.M., at Unity Church of Christianity, in the Tower of Light at the Sanctuary. In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions be made to Unity Church of Christianity, 2929 Unity Drive, or your charity of choice. Angels watch over you, always!
