Jennifer Evans Matwijiw
Jennifer Evans Matwijiw died peacefully on August 14, 2021, with family at her side, after a sudden unexpected medical incident. Jennifer was born January 24,1970 in Houston to Arthur F. Evans III and Sandra Evola Evans. She grew up in the Houston area and attended St. Stephens Episcopal Day School, St. Marks Episcopal School, and the Episcopal High School as well as the Colorado Springs School.
In 1992 Jennifer married Mark Salbert and they lived in the Clear Lake area. They became parents with the birth of Will Henry Salbert, and Jennifer loved her son with all her heart as long as she lived. Jennifer worked as an administrative assistant and office manager at several engineering firms in the Clear Lake NASA area.
In 2009 Jennifer found the love of her life and married Igor Evan Matwijiw. They lived for several years in the Clear Lake area and then moved to Texarkana. After a rocky beginning there, they were able to come together to arrange a beautiful home and a happy life that they shared until her death. During the last year Jennifer was delighted to begin working in the office of the Texarkana City Library. With her love of books and reading she thoroughly enjoyed this position.
Jennifer was preceded in death by her (step)father Thomas J. Webb. She is survived by husband I. Evan Matwijiw, M.D.; parents Arthur F. Evans, III, M.D. and Sandra Evans Webb; son Will Henry Salbert; brother Arthur F. Evans, IV; niece Rachael Ann Evans; nephew Arthur F. (Rick) Evans V; former spouse and good friend Mark Salbert; and many other aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Jennifer was a loving and giving person. She loved flowers, butterflies, dragonflies. And Starbucks! She was an Astros fan. And she was interested in photography, bird watching and good books. Jennifer loved her husband and family and little Bou and Alfie. We all miss her and her sweet little smile.
