On the weekends Jelly and Mary Ann and their whole crew would come and stay at grandpa and gradma. The adults would play dominoes in the dining room and the kids would sit on their mom or dad's lap and sometimes got to throw the domino. There was so much food in that kitchen it was unreal. Pies, cakes, kolaches. But the neatest thing I remember was Jelly's voice and his accent and his laugh.....no one else in all the world sounded like him. Oh my gosh we had so much fun trying to dodge all the corncobs that Darrell and Ernest Jarrell dipped in cow manure from the roof of the pigpen at Grandpa and Grandma Greens.
We couldn't wait to go to bed at night. Grandpa and would open up the sleeper sofa in the living room and grandma would put al the sheets on and then Sheila would get a flashlight and she would tell the scariest stories. And we would scream and yell and the big people would come in and tell us to shut up and go to sleep.

I'll never forget when Arnold, Sissy, Darrelll and I would come visit y'all in Stinkadeena. We would leave Temple at 4 in the morning and halfway, I guess Brenham I would wake up and eat bacon and syrup sandwiches that mom made before we left. And I just couldn't wait to get there and play with everybody. We would usually go to the beach and swim at Galveston. Or they would stay up late slapping those dominoes on the table playing 84.

Mary Ann our sympathy & prayers are with you & your family at this time. The Greens were great neighbors of Nan Stephens on Ave. B in So. Houston. And I think you were there when me & Wanda got married in front of her Christmas Tree in 1948. All our Love & may God Bless You.

Jelly, I will always remember you buying me an ice cream cone at Belsons drug store in rosebud after high school days. All the good times at the horse track. What a great talent playing your trumpet at your 50th anniversary. My memories could go on forever. God bless, I will love you forever. Babe
