Jerry Bullard Obituary

Bullard
Jerry Frank Bullard, 64, of Tomball, Texas was promoted to his heavenly home on December 25, 2010, after a long and difficult battle with AML. Hospice enabled him to be at home with his family until he died early Saturday morning.
Jerry was born October 2, 1946 to Elma and Grady Bullard at his grandmothers' home in Madisonville, Texas. He lived in Freeport, Texas and graduated from Brazosport High School in 1965. He was drafted into the Army and served from 1967 to 1969. After being discharged, he served as a prison guard for the Texas Department of Corrections in Huntsville. He attended and graduated from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminology. Upon moving to Houston he was employed by GMAC and later Spartan Insurance. After being recommended to become an agent for State Farm Insurance, he began his 33 year career.
In May of 1981, Jerry married Debbie Johnson and they enjoyed nearly 30 years together. Moving to Tomball in 1994, Jerry enjoyed working with his hands, welding, building trailers, assisting friends or neighbors with projects and spending time with his family. He had a keen interest in and was intrigued by the history of the Titantic. Known as "Pops" he introduced his grandkids to ATVs, jet skis, tools and more information than they could comprehend. For the past 15 years, Jerry enjoyed many hours hunting, four wheeling and building deer blinds on the Waco Creek ranch in San Saba, Texas.
He is survived by his wife Debbie; children Jeremy Bullard of Houston and Amy Hargrove (Kevin) of Tomball; sisters Peggie Stout (RJ) Beaumont and Perri Cook (Kenneth)Union,Kentucky; brothers Pat Bullard (Shirley) Marble Falls and Paul Bullard (Linda) College Station; grandchildren Whitney, Garrett, Landon and Carson Hargrove; numerous nieces and nephews; and an abundance of friends and his beloved dachshunds Spencer and Tracy.
Jerry will always be fondly remembered for his attention to detail, his critiques, his endless knowledge, advice and generosity, countless nicknames for friends and family and his limited ability to speak Spanish.
Our deepest gratitude to State Farm staff, Jackie, Bonnie and Elsa, Cheryl Shaughnessy and the staff of KRK #7,51. A special thanks to Dr. Michael Di Teresa, the doctors, nurses and staff of MD Anderson.

The Ultimate Character and Friend
Jerry met my dad many years ago and became his insurance agent. Once I was an adult, he was my insurance agent also. He would drop by my office in Rice Village and visit--and ask me probing questions about how I was doing and if I was taking care of myself.--Such a great supporter. I really miss his friendship and visits

Jerry was my friend and State Farm agent for 30 years, he used to come into the claims office when I was working to check on claims of his clients; he always had a good word to say and always had time to talk to people; I will miss him as I am sure many others will, prayers for his family and friends at this time of great sorrow. May the Lord bless and keep you, give you comfort and peace during this difficult time in your lives. Treasure your memories and share them with each other and through each of you, Jerry will forever live on. Take comfort in knowing that he is no longer suffering, free of pain. Remember, they that mourn shall be comforted. Look to Jesus for strength and help, always giving thanks for your time with him. I will always treasure our time together in R10 and the long walks to the Mays Bldg and back. Debbie, remember what you said to me, "I don't know how anyone that don't know the Lord can go through this." My answer was, "Thank God, we know Him." That said, I know Amy, Jeremy and you with time, will be alright; and yes my friend, Jerry knew also. Praying with and for you. Love ya'...

Jerry and I had some whopper conversations over the years and he helped me with special insurance policy guidance during the beginning of my career when times were tough. Sincere sympathy to his family---I know you will miss him every day--how fortunate you were to have him for many years.

Jerry was a great boss and friend. He always had something for the front desk girls of KRK #7 to measure, cut or figure out. His heart was full of love and always spoke about Mrs. Debbie, Amy and Jeremy with so much pride and love. I will miss all of his jokes, hearing him say "ok homes" and " Tina, grab a pencil and a measuring tape and go measure the fence for me, it has to be EXACT" I will miss seeing "JB" in white marker on all of his tools.. I will miss hearing your jokes and your great laugh. I will miss you Mr. Jerry very much. I am blessed to know I have you as one of my guardian angels.
