Jerry "Bob" McKinley
1934-2016
Jerry McKinley passed away on August 6, 2016 in Houston, Texas. He was 82 years old. Born July 14, 1934 in Wichita Falls, Texas, McKinley was the first of two children born of Marion Claude McKinley and Opal "Tootsie" Broyles. Jerry was a graduate of Jeff Davis High School and also attended the University of Houston.
He proudly served his country in the US Air Force from 1954 to 1957 where he served in the United States and Japan. Jerry McKinley wed Paula Jean Spillers in March of 1957 and started his career in the concrete pipe industry in November of 1957. While he was starting his new position, he became the father of three children: one girl, Kathleen Dawn and two boys, Scott Marion and Steven Paul.
Over a span of 57 years, Jerry worked for, purchased, owned, operated, and sold Jerry McKinley Concrete Pipe Company, Inc.
He was a lifetime member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, worked as a committeeman on the HLS&R, served on the board of directors at North Houston Bank, the YO Social Club, and was a member of the US Power Squadron. Jerry had a passion for boats, antique cars, and just being a collector. In his earlier years, he loved hunting and fishing. Jerry's ability to socialize with people allowed him a successful business and a good family life. He loved to tell stories of his travels and personal experiences.
Jerry McKinley will be greatly missed by his wife of 59 years, Paula Jean "PJ" McKinley, his three children: Kathleen Dawn McKinley, Scott Marion McKinley, and Steven Paul McKinley, his grandchildren: Shawn Marion McKinley aka Son, Amanda Michele McKinley, and Lesa Ann McKinley, and 10 great-grandchildren that call him "Poppy".
He is also survived by his sister Patricia Voelkel and her husband Stafford Voelkel along with numerous nieces and nephews.
The memorial service will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at:

Jerry, guess I have known you just about my entire life,so what do you say to someone who has been a part of your life for 60 years or so? Not enough room here to speak what is in my heart. Jerry McKinley will always have a special place in my heart. I had the pleasure of knowing him since 1992 when I began dating his son, Steve McKinley. He was so accepting of me and my son and treated us like we were family. He had a heart of gold and was a man of his word. He is someone I will never forget and will always cherish knowing.

Dearest Paula, having lost my Joe, I have truly walked in your shoes. His last year was spent in ICU, same room/same bed, although he was tied to a ventilator and a dialysis machine, his mind was totally fine, just unable to speak. I am soo happy I finally got to meet you two at Justine's birthday party, held at Margaret's, across the street from you. For so many years I heard so many nice things about you two from Dodie, and I know, to her, Jerry was more like a brother than a cousinm If you ever need anyone to talk to, feel free to ask Margaret for my phone number..day or latecl at night is fine. I'm glad he got to meet his grandchildren, as Joe really only got to know our 2 baby grandsons, although we now have 5.God Bless you..
