Joe McDougald Obituary

Joe Dan McDougald passed away peacefully April 2, 2012, surrounded by loving family. Born in Madison County, Texas on April 17, 1938, he grew up in Pasadena, Texas, where he met and married the love of his life, Betty Nelson McDougald. Joe graduated from Rice Institute (now Rice University) in 1960, became licensed as a CPA and served in the US Army before embarking on a long career as a CPA and financial planning consultant.
As a CPA, Joe was instrumental in developing and implementing cash accounting programs for Las Vegas casinos. Joe was well known for integrity, reliability, hard work and expertise. Those who worked with him will miss him.
Joe was a devoted member of Fair Haven United Methodist Church for more than 35 years, where he served on numerous committees as well as the Administrative Board. In recent days, he could often be found volunteering his time and expertise in the Church office, working with the Church's finances.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Mitchell McDougald and Lillie Mae Woods McDougald, as well as by his brothers, Carl Wayne McDougald and James Leslie McDougald. Joe is survived by his wife of 54 years, Betty, his sons, Steve and David, and his daughter, Donna Peacock. Joe is also survived by 8 grandchildren and one great-grandchild, as well as his brother, Walter Rogers, and his sister, Bonnie Thompson.
A Memorial Service will be held at Fair Haven United Methodist Church, 1330 Gessner, Houston, Texas 77055, starting at 11:00 am on Good Friday, April 6, 2012. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Fair Haven United Methodist Church.

I am saddened at the loss of another classmate but joyous to read that Joe Dan had a personal relationship with Lord Jesus. Joe Dan is victorious in his earthly death as he now lives in the perfect light of our God. My prayer is for his family who will miss him and mourn his death. I pray that each will find comfort and peace in the arms of Jesus.

Praying for God's Perfect will,

To the bereaved family of Mr. McDougald. The loss of a dear loved one is never easy, may the GOD of all comfort provide whatever is needed so you can cope with your great loss. Also there will be a end to all causes of death and the grief that follows.

Dear Betty and family:

My deepest sympathy, thoughts and prayers are with you all in the loss of Joe, an old friend of mine. I remember you well also.

We worked together at Haskins & Sells many, many years ago and he was such a wonderful man. We may have worked together at Phillips Sheffield before they merged with H&S but I can't remember for sure.

May Joe rest in peace and may you all find peace in the coming days.

Love, Margaret Mustachio Mika

Mr. McDougald was one of the kindest people I have ever known. I worked for him years ago at QPC, but he forever remained my 'favorite' boss. He will be missed very much by his family and friends, as well as his former employees!
