Joe Stutts Obituary

JOE ROSS STUTTS entered into eternal glory on June 21, 2003. He was born on March 22, 1932 in Huntsville, TX. Mr. Stutts was valedictorian of Joaquin High School and a 1952 graduate of Sam Houston State University. He went on to become a 1957 graduate of South Texas College of Law, as well as a 1980 graduate of Southwestern Theological Seminary. Subsequent to his career as an attorney and real estate developer, Mr. Stutts spent several years pastoring numerous churches in and around the Houston area. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Ann Young Stutts; children, Joe Ross Stutts and wife Cynthia, David Young Stutts and wife Carla, Laurie Ann Stutts, and Amy Stutts Martin and husband Chris; grandchildren, Blake Young Stutts, Kevin Roy Stutts, Sean Alexander Martin, Travis Webster Bowen, and Allison Bowen Hastings and husband David; great-grandchildren, Blaine Bowen, Alyssa Bowen, Megan Hastings, and Brady Hastings; brother, William J. Stutts; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family will receive friends from 6 PM until 8 PM on Tuesday, June 24, 2003 at The Settegast-Kopf Co. Funeral Directors, 3320 Kirby Drive. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday, June 25, 2003 at Willow Meadows Baptist Church, 4300 W. Bellfort, with Rev. Gary Long officiating. Pallbearers will be William J. Stutts, Joe D. Stutts, Lt. Gen. Orren Whiddon (Ret.), Richard Whiddon, Blake Stutts, John Jacobs, David Trekell, and Roger Brown. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Willow Meadows Baptist Church. In lieu of the usual remembrances, the family requests that memorials may be made to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center for research, or to Willow Meadows Baptist Church.
