John Fields Obituary

JOHN WESLEY FIELDS, 78, of Pasadena, passed away on Tuesday, September 12, 2006 after a courageous battle with Parkinson's disease. John a native Houstonian was born October 23, 1927 to the late John Washington and Girtha Mae Slaton Fields. John served his country proudly in the Army and the Air Force Reserves. John attended Texas A&M University where he was a proud member of the "Fighting Texas Aggie Band". He and his family remain avid Aggie fans, many of the family members have carried on his tradition by attending the university. He was a 32nd Degree Masonic. He and his wife are members of South Main Baptist Church in Pasadena. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Martha Lee Rudisill; and granddaughter, Shelia Danielle Padgett. John leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 52 years, Norma D. Fields; daughters, Sondra Padgett and her husband Charley, Janet Caldwell and her husband Bob; sister Dottie Ward and her husband Boots; grandchildren, Holly Padgett, John Caldwell and Allison Caldwell; along with many other loving family members and friends. The family wishes to express a special thanks to Vista Continuing Care and AMED Hospice for their loving care and support. Visitation will be held at Grand View Funeral Home, 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena on Friday, September 15, 2006 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Services celebrating John's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 16, 2006 at South Main Baptist Church, 4300 Beltway 8, Pasadena. Interment will follow at Grand View Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the South Main Baptist Church Youth Choir.
