A Statement on the Passing of Johnny B. Crawford

He was the oldest son of my older sister, Gertie Mae Roberts Crawford, of Carthage, Texas. My nephew J. B. and I grew up like brothers because his mother was eleven years older than me and was grown as early as I can remember her. As a child, I witnessed his mother's marriage to Ben Crawford and I was in the home when J. B. was born. He was, indeed, like my little brother whom I, my mother Nancy Fite carter and my younger sisters Lola and Frankie Mae and older brothers Johnnie B. and George ("G. W.") loved very such.

J. B. filled a critically important place in God's matrix of human life.He has left an extra lesson on living for me. I did not see that fact more clearly than as I witnessed the outpouring of love and respect for him and heard the stories of his community involvement and devotion to his family made evident during the days before, during and after his funeral. He had been a quite super force in reaching out to others with love and service! I was astounded to hear for the first time his powerful spiritual rigor and strong daily devotion with his beautiful family of wife and grown daughter and sons. His work with his church and the community was matchless. He was too busy doing God's business that he did not have time to be tired. And, is that not a model for any would-be Christian to follow?

Yes, Johnny B. Crawford, or "J. B" as we called him, was a model of wholeness, perfection, powerfulness, strength, harmoniousness, love and happiness. He had found his niche and peace in this troubling world. His life was so very demonstrative of God wants of all of us. How blessed we are to have shared him for so long on his journey to eternity!

I state as if speaking to my nephew/brother:
"So, "B", I and we expect to see you again in God's time and place!

With such love as only family can feel and understand.

The loss of your Dad will be a hard thing to get over. But there is so much to be gained in memory of his life so well lived. What an awesome treasure of a legacy he left behind in his children and their mother, a tribute to how well he loved all of you and taught you to do the same. He led a beautiful life of love till the very end, the memory of which will never die.
Continuously Praying for all of you,
