Josef Eisemann Obituary

JOSEF (JOE) JOACHIM EISEMANN, devoted father, grandfather and friend passed away on November 29, 2005. Joe was born in Germany on November 27, 1920 and at age 15, immigrated to Houston, Texas to live with his Uncle Max and Aunt Tennie Westheimer. Sadly, Joe's parents, Samuel and Fanny Eisemann perished in a Concentration Camp before they were able to join their family in Houston. His sister, Flora, also precedes him in death. Joe was a spiritual man and attended Congregation Beth Yeshurun. Joe graduated from San Jacinto High School in 1938 and began a sales career that he loved for 67 years. He was employed with Peden Iron and Steel for over 30 years. With the onset of WWII, Joe took leave from Peden and enlisted with the USMC, where he proudly served his country as a staff Sergeant during WWII and the Korean War. When Peden Iron and Steel closed, Joe went to work for Schuman Auto Supply. In his seventies, he still had much to offer and, rather than retiring, Joe chose to embrace self-employment and worked selling auto parts and supplies until June of this year. His business success is much attributed to his absolute integrity and commitment to his customers. Joe was a man that people enjoyed and wanted to do business with. During his sales and military career, Joe was blessed with three children, Michael, Lisa and Joel (Joey), whom he loved and adored. Joe enjoyed playful teasing with his children, grandchildren and friends. His great sense of humor throughout the years brought an abundance of smiles and laughter. When the tears that our loss of this truly wonderful man are healed with time, we will share memories of love, laughter and admiration and know that we are better, more loving people for having known Joe Eisemann. Joe is survived by his son, Michael Eisemann, daughter Lisa Erenwert and husband Martin, son, Joel (Joey) Eisemann and wife, Kami, grandson, Brent Erenwert and wife Laura, granddaughter, Ashleigh Erenwert, grandsons Keenan, Kendall and Jeremy Eisemann, and numerous friends and acquaintances. Graveside Services will be held at 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, November 30, 2005 at Beth Yeshurun Cemetery on N. Post Oak and Old Katy Road. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Houston Humane Society or charity of choice.

Joe always had an endearing name for everyone. My family and I were the "across the street people". We are happier today because some of Joe's friendliness rubbed off on us. We loved you then and we love you now, Mike,Sharon,Ethan,Drew, and Leah

Lisa, Michael and Joey

I am so sorry that I cannot join you today for your father's funeral. I am so grateful to Lisa for our very meaningful visit and connection last March when my husband Richie and I were out in Houston

As Lisa knows, I have very little information about my Mother, your Aunt so speaking with your father filled in some important holes.

I was impressed first and foremost by his memory of so many details of her life, as a child and in North Carolina and the extended family, I have trouble remembering what I did or eat two days ago and his recall of doctors who treated her and family members on my father's side was most impressive.

He also gave me new insights into her life and we were just talking about her and him Sunday night with friends who were telling us how their immigrant parents started out here. I related some of the information that my Uncle had told me last March

Obviously I wish I had had more time to visit and talk with him. It meant a lot to me that he called me three or four days in a row after we had met. He seemed genuinely happy to have met me and Richie. I think you are correct when you say he was a spiritual man. He made a direct connection with Richie. As you know I had very little contact with him through the years but I was very struck by the fact that he reached out to us when Rabbi Segal retired and suggested that Richie might want to apply for the job. What might have happened if that had come about

I hope we can continue to develop a relationship, based on legacy and heritage that we share
