Joseph George Munisteri died on June 17, 2023 at the age of 92. Born in Rome, Italy, the son of Inez and Georgio Patti on September 24, 1930. He is preceded in death by his first wife and mother to his children, Terry Grasso Munisteri; sister Lauradele; brother Arthur and grandson Denali Schmidt. He is survived by his wife Barbra; his children; Joanne, Robert, Laura, Stephen, James, Richard and his step-son Davide, as well as his grandchildren, Elena, Theresa, Sequoia and five great grandchildren.
Joe is the definition of the American Dream. He immigrated to the United States from Italy, and grew up in New York City with his Italian roots intact. Following high school, Munisteri received a track scholarship to Yale University where he studied Chemical Engineering.
Joe went on to a very successful career-building nuclear power plants all over the world. He served as Vice-President to Comstock, Brown and Root, COO of Ford, Bacon & Davis and President of ENSEARCH. He is a founding member f the Nuclear Energy Council, and served on numerous committees and boards including; American Institute of Chemical Engineers, American Society of Professional Engineers and the National Society of Professional Engineers. In the early nineties, Munisteri opened his own consulting firm, which provided knowledge and oversight to companies internationally. His distinguished career and patents are detailed in his biography"Born in Rome". He was named Inventor of the Year in 2018 by the Houston Association of Patent Lawyers for Fracwell, his environmentally conscious hydraulic fracturing process.
Joe's love for music started at the age of seven and lasted a lifetime. He played the violin in the Houston Civic Symphony for 43 years and was a founding member. His stand partner Barbra later became his loving wife, and together they traveled the world for the last part of his life. Joseph George Munisteri will be remembered as a world renowned business leader, beloved friend,husband, father and grandfather.
