Josephine Lara Obituary

Josephine Porras Lara
1935-2018
Josephine Lara, a native Houstonian of Harris County, Texas was born at St. Joseph Hospital on April 28th, 1935 and passed away on December 11, 2018.
She graduated high school from Incarnate Word Academy in 1954. She was employed at St. Joseph Hospital as a nurses' aid and worked in the newborn nursery. In 1955, she was married and became a housewife and within seven years mother to five children. Like the majority of women in the fifties she was a housewife and raised her children in the suburbs. Josephine had a wonderful husband that purchased their first home in the suburbs on a VA loan. She always had dependable automobiles, good neighbors, good public schools and a neighborhood church. She lived the American dream. One ritual that she took pride in was, every year before the start of school and at Easter time, without fail, she would take all her children downtown to Foleys for new clothes. She would also include shopping at Battlesteins and Sakowitz as her family grew. She enjoyed the good life; she had a wonderful husband that did everything he could to keep her happy.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Margarito Lara, as well as her granddaughter, Faith Silva, her son, Adrian Lara and daughter Deborah Ann Silva.
Josephine is survived by her children: daughter, Geraldine Kuhleman Heath and husband Forrest, Mike Silva, son in law and her sons, Moses Lara and Vincent Lara, as well as her grandchildren: Christopher Silva, Brenda Silva Villarreal and husband Andrew, Annette Silva Ceniceros and husband Daniel, Lara Anne Valdez and husband Dominic, Jennifer Lea Kuhleman, Evelyn Marie Brewer and husband Brian, Krystal Joy Donaldson and husband Terry, as well as her great grandchildren: Helaina Villarreal, Ginger Villarreal, Major Villarreal, Reece Villarreal, Carmen Ceniceros, Mikey Ceniceros and Tony Donaldson.
Father Peter D. Harris led a service at Niday Funeral Home followed by interment at Forest Lawn Cemetery. I would like to thank Father Harris for taking time to be with the decedent's family. In lieu of flowers, please support your church community and/or Alcoholics Anonymous, Houston.

For the brief time I knew her, she was possibly the sweetest most kind spirit I've ever known. I know the LORD welcomed her home with open arms.
My heart goes out to her family - I'm covering you all in prayer with much love.
