June Terry Obituary

JUNE CATHEY TERRY, who lived in three centuries, died November 22, 2001 at the age of 102. Born June 14, 1899 in Leon Junction, Texas, she was the daughter of Lovedy Burt and Henry Rutherford Cathey. She was married to Jack M. Terry, Sr. for 51 years, who preceded her in death. An educator for over 44 years, the last 23 years in HISD, she received her Bachelors degree from Abilene Christian College and a Masters degree from the University of Houston. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Houston, Texas Retired Teachers Association, Phi Kappa Phi, and the Order of the Eastern Star. She is survived by her son Jack M. Terry, Jr. and his wife Eden R. Terry;grandsons Jack M. Terry, III and Joseph Denney Terry, all of Houston, and sister-in-law Ruth Terry Denney of El Dorado, Arkansas. Visitation will be 5:00-8:00pm Monday, November 26th, and the funeral service will be 2:00pm Tuesday, both held at Niday Funeral Home. Interment will be in Ranger, Texas.
