Kathy was friend I met in the late 80s. We played a bit of tennis together and visited several times a year. She was so devoted to Jack. Her caring nature was admirable and inspiring. She will be missed by all who knew her.

I wish I had opportunity to know Kathy better; but, I knew her well enough to know she was a class act. Ever young, ever enthusiastic, ever generous, ever wise, ever modest! I am humbled to have experienced her smile, her laughter, to have heard about her love of Nature and art, her time with John and their mutual determination to benefit this community. How fortunate are Houston and Galveston residents to have had Kathy for our neighbor, patron and friend!

I had the wonderful privilege to encounter Mrs.McGovern on her numerous visits to McGovern Centennial Gardens. Every visit she would engage us with great conversation-mostly involving her and her husband´s life journey . Additionally to the philanthropy and achievements- I was always fascinated by her genuine kindness and selfless ability to treat everyone with respect and dignity. Thank you Mrs.McGovern for your genuine example.

I was lucky enough to spend time recently with Mrs. McGovern, giving her a tour of the Willow Waterhole Greenway in 2022. She was very interested in the natural aspects of the park in addition to the flood protection it provided. She liked birds and fish, describing how Dr. McGovern and she went fishing in Florida on their honeymoon. We told her about our planned fishing pier, and she offered to donate immediately. I will remember her sweet personality and smile, in addition to sharing stories of her life and the generosity.

As a college student in the early seventies I worked in the office of McGovern Allergy Clinic during the summers. Mrs. McGovern was always kind and gracious to me, as was Dr. McGovern. May she rest in peace, and may light perpetual shine upon her.
