Kent Demaret Obituary

Kent Demaret, 72 passed away Friday March 16, 2007 with his family by his side. He was born in Alexandria, Louisiana on August 1, 1934. His mother Isabel and father Lyman Demaret predeceased him. He was a loving father, grandfather and friend. He is survived by son Craig Demaret and his girlfriend Donna Rusinovich of Cornelius, NC, Kelly Delaney and husband Steve Delaney of Spring TX, grandchildren Jared, Sean, Kara and Rebecca Delaney. Also survived by brothers Milton and David Demaret and sister Carol Hall and mother of his children Dorothy Demaret. He began his professional life in broadcasting and media in the 1960's as a reporter for the old Houston Press. He also worked in television for the Public Broadcasting System and the British Broadcasting Corporation both in front of the camera and behind the scenes as a freelance journalist. Later he was a correspondent and bureau chief for Life Magazine. Kent retired as bureau chief for People Magazine in 1992. He also wrote and published two books and was writing a series of children's books at the time of his passing. In accordance with his wishes his remains will be cremated and scattered over the Rocky Mountains. Family and friends are invited to a prayer vigil and viewing at Klein Funeral Home on Champion Forest Drive in Spring, TX on Sunday, March 18th from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. A memorial service will be Monday, March 19th at 11:00am at St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church on Cypresswood Drive in Spring, Texas. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church. The family extends heartfelt thanks to everyone involved in Kent's care over the past several months. Kent will be deeply missed by his loved one and friends who will rejoice in his memory.
