Unfortunately I will be out of town during the memorial service but I wanted his family to know that they and Kent are in my prayers. He was one of a kind and will be sorely missed by all of us in the Rice community.

Doc embodied all that Rice athletes strive to be. Articulate, intelligent, accomplished, honest, loyal, a great friend and team-mate.

Kent was a great man. He helped me when I was but a young pup with legal advice on CSNbbs. He was one of those rare people who added real insight, value, and community with each post.

Those of us who knew Kent will remember him as a man who loved life and lived it energetically.
