Kit Hopkins, of Volente, Texas, passed away peacefully at her home on November 5, 2025, after a courageous seven-year battle with ovarian cancer. Kit was born to the late Royce and Mollie Francis Hopkins on April 18, 1956 in Houston, Texas. She was the third of four children, having two sisters, Sharon and Kim and one brother Mike. After attending Bellaire High School where she graduated in 1973, she attended the University of Texas in Austin. She graduated in December 1977, receiving a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting.
Kit went to work with Deloitte and Touche in Houston, Texas in 1977 as an auditor and became a Certified Public Accountant. In 1979, she joined Baker International Corporation where she worked as an internal auditor and Finance and Accounting Administrator.
In 1984, she joined Schlumberger where she held several controller and treasury positions over 29 years. She lived and traveled the world during her career with Schlumberger, and she loved every minute making lifelong friends while seeing the world. Kit retired in 2013 as Director, Trust Investments, overseeing Schlumberger's global portfolio of postretirement assets her last 8 years.
After Kit's retirement, she moved to the Village of Volente, Texas on Lake Travis with her beloved cattle dog Megan. She loved where she lived and began volunteering in city government. She volunteered to the several committees before being elected to City Council, 3 times serving 5 ½ years, always striving to make Volente a better place to live.
She loved her faithful companions Megan and Kona (both cattle dogs), enjoyed playing and winning at golf with her friends in the WGA at Barton Creek and gardening.
She was preceded in death by her father, Royce Hopkins and her mother, Mollie Hopkins. Kit is survived by her sister Sharon Harvie of Longmont, Colorado, her sister Kim Montag and husband Jeff of McAllister, Montana, her brother Mike Hopkins and wife Andrea, of Cedar Park, Tx. She is also survived by numerous dear friends, niece Jennifer Shepherd of Longmont, Colorado and nephew Chris Hopkins of Houston, Texas She will be missed by her family, many friends and all of those who knew and loved her. A private service will be held at a future date.
