Linda Scott Dussair, 82, of Katy, Texas, beloved wife, mother, sister, Mamere, and cherished friend to many, passed away peacefully on the night of the Harvest Moon, embraced by its gentle glow, as her loving husband Kent came to pick her up after a courageous battle with metastatic breast cancer.
Born in Dallas, Texas, Linda was the daughter of Clifton Lee Scott and Mary Louise Merrill. She was lovingly raised in Ladonia, Texas, primarily by her treasured Granny Merrill. Linda graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and earned a degree in Sociology from the University of Texas at Austin.
Linda's life was a radiant tapestry of love, generosity, and joy. Her vibrant spirit, deep empathy, and unwavering devotion to friends, family, and animals left an indelible mark on all who knew her. She was a true beauty-inside and out-and her legacy of kindness and connection will continue to inspire.
After college, Linda began her career in social work in Houston, where she met the love of her life, Kent Dussair. Together, they built a beautiful life over 54 years of marriage, raising three beloved children: David, Julie, and Jeff. Linda embraced life fully-playing tennis, traveling the world, and cultivating lifelong friendships. In her later years, she discovered a passion for pickleball and quickly became a local champion.
Linda was deeply involved in her community and generously gave her time and heart to numerous organizations, including the Assistance League of Houston, Delta Gamma Sorority and Alumni Association, Memorial Women's Club, River Oaks Luncheon Club, and Memorial Drive United Methodist Church. She also found joy in many social groups, including The Korkers, The 6-Pack, Knife and Fork Club of Houston, the Birthday Club, Gourmet Trois Club, Margarita Club, Day-Dinkers (pickleball friends), and the Merry Makers Club.
Linda was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kent. She is survived by her children: David; Julie and her husband, Jayson; and Jeff and his wife, Sara. She also leaves behind six adoring grandchildren: Logan, Tanner, Kaitlin Binion, Zoe Rose, Ryder Dussair, and Jamison Dussair. Her love extended to her cherished canine companions: Tippy, Brenda, Blitz, Carmel, Sparky, and Pepper.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Ted Richardson for his devoted and compassionate care throughout Linda's illness.
