Laura and I were so sorry to hear about Madelyn. It will not be the same at the UH pre-game activities, as we both enjoyed conversation and laughter with you and Madelyn. She was an inspiration to both of us and we will miss her. Accept our deepest symphathies.

Dear Mr. Stephens:
In the book of Matthew it reads,"Ye shall know them by their fruits....A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them."
When "Miss Randall" appeared at Lanai High School it was blatantly obvious that she was a "good tree". Her welcoming personality, her non-judgmental teaching approach, her authentic smile and her sincere friendship for all her students was noticed by all us; consistently, day in and day out. While committed to having us "local kids" learn, she did it with a warmth that transcended any cultural differences. Through the years, I have found that there are few people who had impacted and influenced my life to the extent that I oft times think of them out of the blue. Miss Randall was one of those people in my life and in the life of many of my classmates. I, along with those in my class, will miss her.
On behalf of the Class of 1971 from Lanai High School, I extend my condolences for your loss and celebrate her life with you. While she is not with us, she will never be forgotten for we are some of "the fruit" from "the good tree" and she made an everlasting impression on us...for the good.
May God be with you until you meet her again is our prayer.
Aloha,
Myles M. Hokama, DDS, FACD

Dear Bill:
I am sorry to learn of the untimely passing of your wife Madelyn. I was her student in 1970-71 when she first taught at Lanai High School in Hawaii. She was an immediate hit on campus. We all loved her wonderful personality and her big welcoming smile. I'm sure it was a culture shock for her to be assigned to a school in an isolated pineapple plantation community like Lanai but she fit in like a glove on a hand. She was popular with everyone she met. How could she not be with her upbeat personality and cheerful "you all" that she would pepper her speech with? Of course all the boys loved her great looks, her blonde hair and sparkling blue eyes, and her good nature. She taught home economics and I don't think the class ever had more boys sign up for it or better attendance ever! We enjoyed making fun of her Texas drawl but in the end she gave us all a great appreciation for the great state of Texas of which she was so proud.
I'm sorry I didn't keep in touch with her after my high school years. I now realize how important those years on Lanai were to her and I hope you will keep in mind that she made a mark on the many students whose lives she touched during the years she taught on Lanai.
On behalf of me and the many other students she taught at Lanai High School, we extend our deepest condolences to you at this time of loss.
Aloha,

I extend my deepest condolences on the loss of Madelyn. At the same time, I celebrate her eternal promotion to be with her Lord and Savior.
Since the age of 12, Madelyn was such a positive influence on me, accepting me into the fold of her friendship and kindness. She never changed. She spoke only positive words of others and treated everyone the same. Most importantly, she had a lovely soul that sought God's Word on a consistent, lifelong basis.
Her beautiful smile is the one trait remembered by all, the reflection of her genuine inner happiness and inner beauty, the result of her love for God's Word.
I will miss her dearly.
Bill, I uphold you in prayer, for your comfort as you continue the life that God still has planned for you.

Dear Bill,
We are so sorry for the loss of your Beloved, Madelyn. We were just telling friends of ours about how you and my parents met in line at a restaurant and became forever friends. My guess is many people loved Madelyn at first sight =0). Yours is a true love story.
We send our prayers and love as you navigate these days and weeks ahead.
In Christ,

from the time we moved to Texas our families were mingled together. I was always impressed with the love that was so evident in Madelyn's life. She and I spent wonderful times together growing up. I recently found her again after moving out of the Houston area 25 years ago..and spent a wonderful evening remembering some of those precious times we had together. May God give you comfort knowing she's praising her Lord with the veil torn away.

Bill:
I had sincerely hoped those many years ago, what was told in re she having MS was incorrect. Since she graced many lives for so long , I thought that maybe it was wrong. She always had a smile, and made hard task seem so simple.
I have a quote I have keep in my heart for all these years and need to pass on, for Madelyn certainly is an example to:
The woods are lively, dark and deep
And I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep
From: Robert Frost
It was time for her to sleep.

Madelyn was a wonderful friend in high school. She was always kind, thoughtful, and a joy to be around. I don't think I ever heard her say a bad word about anyone. How comforting to know she is now in heaven because of her relationship with Christ.

I am very sorry that we have lost Madelyn. She was a great friend in high school, everyone admired her. I enjoyed talking to her years later at a high school reunion, and today I'm very impressed by the kind tributes being offered by her many friends.

I remember meeting Madelyn when I was 6 years old and thinking what a beautiful person she was inside and out. I was always in awe of how graceful, beautiful and sweet she was. I will dearly miss her smile and her great laugh! You and Madelyn were truly made for each other and show the rest of the world what a truly perfect marriage is and how to walk in the way of the lord through all situations, both heartbreaking and good. You are always in my thoughts and prayers and I'm glad Madelyn is up there watching out for all of us!
I Love you, Elizabeth
