Margaret Baer Obituary

MARGARET KATHRYN MOORE BAER passed away Thursday, July 15, 2004 at the age of 80. She was born Sept. 12, 1923 on a farm in the Dahl community northwest of Pettus, Tx, to Margaret Dahl Moore and Warren B. Moore. She graduated from Pettus High School in 1941 and from Corpus Christi School of Nursing as a registered nurse in 1944, spending part of that time at Jefferson Davis Hospital in Houston. Kathryn was an Ensign in the U.S. Navy Nurse Corps during World War II being discharged as Lt. J.g., after which she worked for 2 years in Brooklyn, N.Y. On Sept. 2, 1950, she married Robert J. Baer, and they lived in Beeville and Portland, Tx for 30 years. During this time Kathryn was active in the mother's club, P.T.A., C.W.F. of First Christian Church, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Campfire Girls, Cub Scouts, A & M Mother's Club, and was a school nurse for 10 years. Kathryn moved with her husband to Katy, TX in 1980 and was active with volunteer work and a member of the "42" group at Bear Creek Community Center. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Shirley and Inez; and a brother, Garnett. She is survived by her beloved husband of almost 54 years; two children, Pamela Isaacson and husband, Bill, of Corpus Christi; and Brian Baer and wife, Martha, of Sugar Land; 4 grandchildren, Matthew and Maggie Baer of Sugar Land; Jerome and Christopher Chapman of Corpus Christi; and three great grandchildren; one niece, and one nephew. Kathryn will be remembered as a wonderful wife, a devoted mother, and a dedicated volunteer. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 19, 2004 at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX. A graveside service will be hels at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 20, 2004 at the Beeville Memorial Park Cemetery, Hwy. 59, Beeville, TX with Rev. Geraldine Huckman officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church of Pettus, P.O. Box 133, Pettus, TX, 78146, or the charity of your choice.
