Margaret Kent Ring died of natural causes in her home in League City, Texas on December 11, 2016 at the age of 91. Margaret Elinor Kent Ring was born in San Antonio, Texas on December 22, 1924. She was the second daughter of Morse Bernard Kent and Ruby Hopper Kent. Margaret married Sandiford Ring in Houston, Texas on December 18, 1946. Sandy and Margaret were married for 55 years until his death in 2001.
Margaret is survived by her three sons, Russell and wife Eva, John and wife Gaiden, William and wife Nannette all of Friendswood, Texas. Surviving Margaret are 8 grandchildren, Jay, Susan Williams, Mark, Chris, Tyler, Adam, Laura, and Ryan along with 12 great grandchildren. These include Ethan, Dylan, and Vivienne from the Susan Williams family, Addison, Hunter, and Luke from the Mark Ring family, Ben and Maxwell from the Chris Ring family, Mallory, Jameson, and Grace from the Tyler Ring family, and Madalyn from the Adam Ring family. Close relatives predeceasing Margaret are husband Sandiford, grandson Jonathan B Ring, brother Morse Bernard Kent Jr, and sister Jean Collins.
Margaret was a 1942 graduate of San Jacinto High School in Houston, Texas where she was a great swimmer, an officer of the Gaucho Drill team, 1942 most popular girl, and the Carnival Queen. She attended the University of Houston for a short time with her education being cut short by World War II and the death of her father.
Margaret worked with her husband Sandy in the start-up of the family businesses Keystone Engineering Co. and Kemlon Products in their early years. She served as the office manager; performing the duties of receptionist, payroll clerk, bookkeeper, and accounts payable clerk until 1957.
Margaret was involved in many political campaigns and worked especially hard in the failed presidential campaign of Barry Goldwater. She was an avid reader and continued the Ring tradition of participation in the Ladies' Reading Club of Houston that traces back to its origin in 1885. She was a member of the Good Shepherd Episcopalian Church in Friendswood, Texas. She was also a Daughter of the American Revolution.
Margaret was a dedicated and loyal wife and mother. She supported her husband Sandy in all his endeavors. These included building their family business, ranching, building the Silver Cloud III and sailing the Cloud throughout Texas, Florida, the Bahamas, and the Gulf. She traveled with him around the world wherever he ventured from safe venues like Switzerland and Canada to more dangerous sites such as Communist East Germany, Cuba, and Communist China- always supporting him.
Margaret was most proud of her children who entered the family businesses with their father and grew these businesses tenfold. She made friends easily and loved people. She was a strong swimmer and earned 2nd place in the Texas High School State meet. It was reported that when her boys were young she could swim with all three of them on her back. She took special interest in her nieces who she loved dearly.
Visitation with family will be held at Jeter Funeral Home 6:00~8:00 p.m. on Thursday December 15, 2016,

There will be a short grave-side service at 11:00 a.m. Friday December 16, 2016 for immediate family, nieces and nephews at the mausoleum at South Park Funeral Home and Memorial Park located at 1310 N. Main, Pearland, Texas.
For her many friends and family, a memorial service will be held at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church Sanctuary at 1207 W. Winding Way on Friday December 16, at 12:15 p.m. to approximately 1:15 p.m. Immediately following the memorial service a lunch will be provided at the Good Shepherd Sterling Hall.
