Marlene Lee Deeds
09/23/1932 - 11/22/2025
Marlene Lee (Starts) Deeds, age 93, was called to her heavenly home on November 22, 2025. She was born on September 23, 1932, in Coffeyville, Kansas, to Peter and Esma (Norwood) Starts. Marlene graduated from Coffeyville High School and Coffeyville Junior College.
While attending Coffeyville High School, Marlene met the love of her life, Robert Deeds. After Robert completed his service in the United States Army, the two were married and began their life together, moving to Houston Texas. They joined Robert's brother, Charles, sister-in-law, Patricia, and sister, Joan. Houston became their life-long home, where they were blessed with two sons, Michael and Roger.
Marlene was devoted to her family, supporting her sons in their education and standing faithfully beside Robert in his insurance business. Exercise was her joy and she taught aerobics for over twenty years. She later pursued a business career, working for the Houston Golf Association, in real estate and as a law office manager. Gardening was her passion and she enjoyed her volunteer work with their HOA landscape committee. A dedicated Catholic parishioner, she lived her faith quietly and sincerely.
Following Robert's passing, Marlene moved to the Cedar Creek Lake area in North Texas to be closer to Michael and his wife, Patricia.
Marlene was welcomed into Heaven by Robert, her beloved husband of sixty-six years; son, Roger; parents, Peter and Esma; sisters, Coletta and Shirlene; and brother, Steve.
In addition to Michael and Patricia, she leaves behind to cherish her memory beloved nieces and nephews: Susan Henney, Diana Hiebeler, Steve Henney, Jon Hall, Charles Deeds, and Robert Deeds; granddaughters, Nicole Kane and Kimberly Hilton; four great-grandchildren and numerous grand-nieces and nephews.
