Mary Cain was one of the wittiest, most vivacious - and glamorous -- women I ever met. She and my mother were great friends and a great team - at the MFAH and in life. I can still hear Mary´s distinctive voice, drawling a compliment about her hugely successful husband, Gordon, who was sitting thoughtfully nearby. Something like, "Oh, Gordon, his brain is ticking. He´s cogitating."

I had the privilege of uniting Mary and Frank Driscoll in marriage at All Saint´s Episcopal Church in Linville, NC. As a Morehead Scholar at the University of North Carolina, it was a privilege to serve Mary as her pastor, grateful that her generosity doubled the endowment of what is now the Morehead- Cain Scholarship. She and Frank also supported the building a beautiful mission church in Santa Maria, Honduras.

Mary was one of a kind, she had many facets and was the happiest, most loving and giving lady I have ever known. She will be missed on this earth. I was her hair dresser for many years. I loved this lady, she spent time with me in my home when my son tragically passed away and that will not be forgotten! Prayers for the family of this precious lady!
