Mary Margaret and I worked together in the chemistry department at Saint Joseph Health Center from 1978 until her retirement. She and I were weekend rotation partners. She shared with me countless stories about life at Saint Mary College, the "early days" as a Medical Technologist and her view of politics.
My most memorable Mary Margaret story is one she told on herself.
One winter afternoon she left work very tired. When she got home, she laid down in her uniform to take a short nap before dinner. When she awakened it was dark outside. She looked at the clock. It was 6:30. She had slept through the night in her uniform and now she was going to be late for work. She jumped into her car and drove back to the hospital. When she walked into the lab she was greeted by the evening shift staff. She quickly figured out that she had slept very soundly for a short time and it was only 7PM. She told the staff that she had forgotten something and had returned to pick it up. The next morning she told us the story. We all roared laughing but Mary laughed hardest.
I loved Mary Margaret and will always remember her kindly.
