Mary McCants Obituary

Mary Lou Powell McCants
December 17, 1923 - June 13, 2022
Mary Lou Powell McCants, age 98, was born in Homer, Louisiana on December 17, 1923, and passed away on June 13, 2022.

Mary graduated from Louisiana Tech University and went to work for United Gas in 1944. Her job took her to Houston working for Intex Inc. in 1966 and in 1970 she married Robert "Bob" McCants. They spent many happy times with family and traveling the world. She retired in 1979 as Corporate Secretary of her company.

Mary was a woman of faith. She was always in a Bible study and volunteered at her church. She loved her family and was always there for anyone who needed her. Mary was also a fun person who had a positive outlook on life. She was full of joy and laughter and brought lightheartedness to situations when needed. Mary set an example for us to follow of what a woman is and can be. She had a long healthy, happy and exciting life. It is a blessing to know that she loved her savior Jesus Christ and has now been welcomed in paradise.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Odell Chandler Powell, Robert Earlie Powell; husband, Robert "Bob" McCants; sisters, Iva Reynolds, Mertie Powell, Ina Collins; brothers Robert "R.E." Powell, Elmer Powell; stepson Kevin McCants; and granddaughter, Stacie McCants. She is survived by her stepson Earle McCants; grandsons, Edward McCants, Glenn McCants; great-grandsons, Robert McCants, Kevin McCants; many nieces and nephews who loved her and were blessed to have had her in their lives.
