Max Rogers Obituary

MAX (MAXEY) M. ROGERS, JR. passed away on Sunday, February 22, 2009. He was preceded in death by his father Max M. Rogers, Sr. and mother Lottie Moore Rogers. His passing will be felt by all those that knew him. Maxey was truly a kind and gentle soul. He was a genuine character who saw the humor of life. He was extremely compassionate and loving. Maxey graduated from Huntsville High School and looked forward to seeing all of his former classmates at each of their reunions. He valued his friendships highly. He was always interested in sports and followed the Huntsville Hornets and Sam Houston's teams closely. His love of sports led him to own a part of the Cheerleading Supply Company in Dallas until he retired. He was a member of the First Methodist Church of Huntsville. He is survived by his two sisters, Ivy Rogers Dorr and Mary Lou Rogers Hornbuckle, his family, Holly Stovall Addison, Ivy Stovall McClain, son Chase, Max Franklin Stovall, wife Kim and daughters Sarah and Kaylan, Elizabeth Heather Hornbuckle, William Edward Hornbuckle, IV, Margaret Meredith Hornbuckle Browne, and daughter Olivia, James Wesley Hornbuckle, wife Kelly son Nathan and step daughter Ilaina, Bradford Palmer Hornbuckle, and wife Yvonne and step-daughter Michelle Yvonne Floyd and husband Richard and children and step-son Scott Moore and wife Laura and children . He is also survived by friends Bill Hornbuckle, Vic Manning, Melanie Irwin, and long term care-giver Ruby Kizzee. Also deeply appreciated is his friend Charlie Hall. Services will be held Friday February 27, 2009 at 10 AM in the chapel of Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Those wishing to leave memorial condolences for the family may do so at www.shmfh.com. The family appreciates the care of the staff and nurses at Towncreek Center and Ella Smither Geriatric Home. The family wishes to express gratitude to the wonderful care of Dr. Thomas Cole, his long term physician. It is with great sadness that we mourn his passing and know we will see him again in Heaven with His Lord Jesus Christ.

My thoughts and prayers are with you. I remember Maxey and his wonderful smile. He was always so happy and friendly.
Our fathers go way back in their friendship. I've missed seeing you, Ivy.
