Businesswoman, entrepreneur, achiever, role model, and adventurer Mehwish Fatima Rajput was born on June 29, 1989 in Kuwait. Her family escaped Kuwait during the Gulf War where they moved to Pakistan and ultimately found refuge in Houston, Texas in 1997. Mehwish graduated from Lamar High School in 2008 and went on to earn her Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing and Sales through the Bauer School of Business and Honors College at the University of Houston in 2012.

Mehwish was known to everyone as a hard worker and goal-achiever. She started working at the age of 16 to help her family and maintained a job throughout college while completing three internships. After college Mehwish worked at Schlumberger for nine years where she excelled at her job and consistently outperformed her colleagues. In 2023, Mehwish started working at NextTier as a Senior Account Manager. At NextTier, she finally found the right company and team where she felt acknowledged for her hard work and she could thrive in her career. Mehwish was an advocate for diversity and made sure to give back to her alma mater, paving the way for a new generation. She lived up to her favorite quote, "she might be small, but she is mighty."

In January 2017, Mehwish met her better half and partner for life, Fernando Benito Rubio. On November 6, 2018, they got married in Houston, Texas. Mehwish and Fernando have a bond like no other. Their contrasting yet complimentary personalities stood out to family and friends, and they found love in similar things like travel, cooking, humor, and commitment to family. Everyone agreed their union was truly a blessing on both sides.

Mehwish loved her mother, Khurshid, very much. She was grateful for the sacrifices her mother made for her, having to escape war and raise a family in a new country. Mehwish was also a loving aunt to her two nieces and went above and beyond to provide guidance to them so they could grow up to be the best women they could be.

Even while working hard, Mehwish found time to enjoy the fruits of her labor. Houston was home to Mehwish, she loved its diversity, food, and sports. In her free time, you could find Mehwish at a Houston Rockets game, the Houston Rodeo, a concert at the Toyota Center and NRG Stadium, or getting a bite to eat at one of many diverse food options in the city.

Having lived in four countries and traveled to over 30 countries, Mehwish is an adventurer in her own right. Some highlights of her travels include exploring the ancient city ruins of Petra, camping under the stars in the Sahara Desert, dancing on the beach in Bali, scuba diving in the Maldives, seeing the wildlife on a Serengeti safari, relaxing on the beach in Isla Holbox, and cheering for a team at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. One of her favorite places to travel to was Spain, the birthplace of her husband Fernando.

Mehwish had a great sense of humor and often joked about leaving her career in sales to be a standup comedian or even write a book about her hysterical adventures. She also had a very eclectic taste in art, collecting major paintings, sculptures, rugs, and unique pieces from her many travels. Mehwish and Fernando enjoyed hosting people in their home that was decorated with all the things she loved, including her husband. If you were blessed to be a family member or friend of Mehwish's, you may have had the opportunity to enjoy her cooking. From traditional Pakistani dishes like biriyani to a Spanish favorite like paella, Mehwish loved to cook and entertain guests.

Mehwish fought a long and hard battle against cancer for two and a half years. Even during this fight, she tried to keep her personal and professional life as normal as possible. Her husband Fernando, stood by her side throughout her treatment as her primary caregiver. Mehwish's belief in God and in prayer never wavered during this time.

On September 16, 2023, Mehwish Fatima Rajput, 34, passed away. She is survived by her husband, mother, nieces, three siblings, extended family, and many loving friends and colleagues. She is no longer in pain, and she is at peace in Allah's hands.

Salat Al Janazah for Mehiwsh will be held at 2 PM on Friday, September 22, 2023, at Masjid ElFarouq, 1207 Conrad Sauer Dr, Houston, TX 77043 and burial will be held at 3:30 PM on Friday, September 22, 2023, at Glenwood Cemetery, 2525 Washington Ave, Houston, TX 77007. Burial private.
