1960-2016
DEACON MERLIN DOUGLAS GRIGGS, SR., 56, passed away on December 20, 2016. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 32 years Cathy Liggins Griggs and sons Merlin Griggs, II and Justin Griggs. He was a member of the Aldine ISD board of trustees for nearly a decade and a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated. A viewing will be held from 9 – 11am on Saturday, December 24, 2016 at Fallbrook Church ~ 12512 Walters Road. Funeral services will follow at 11am. Senior Pastor Michael A. Pender~Officiating/Eulogist. Interment: Earthman Resthaven.

Truly a great man, always uplifting and inspirational. During a dark time in my life, he gave me some very encouraging words, words I mentally refer to often. I was never formally introduced to him, one day during my coaching days in Aldine, he simply walked up to me and complimented me. Although a member of the School Board, his humble, genuine and sincere approach still resonates. Through the years our paths frequently crossed and each time he left the same impression. Will miss this man.

Deacon Merlin D. Griggs the light of God that shined through you was such a master piece that only God himself could have provided. I am sadden but over jpyed at the same time because I knpw that you are absent from your body and you are present with the Lord. An awesome man of God that heard a word from the Lord and now God has spoken so its only fair yo "Let the Church Say Amen" cause has spoken So I will open my mouth and say Amen Today.

You will greatly be missed Mr. Merlin Griggs. When my daughter got baptized you were there and offered some encouraging words to her. At that time, she was in High School and you would always call us "Your Girls". You there in spirit when she graduated from High School and there in Spirit when she just graduated from College at Sam Houston State University. I didn't know you were sick, and I just formulated an invitation for you and Ms. Kathy to attend my daughter's college graduation. Your kind words, smile, and dedication at Fallbrook church and to us will never go undone. However, I do know that you are in Heaven and I prayed to God to give you a big a hug from me and my daughter Breia. Family keep your head up and you can make it. It will be difficult at times Ms. Kathy, but you will see your husband again. God bless you and the family.
