Michael Deramo Obituary
Michael graduated from Foster High School in 2008, where he played football for four years and was on the Track team for four years throwing the Discus.
Michael grew up developing a lifelong love of the outdoors: fishing, gardening and a genuine enjoyment of caring for and cultivating the land. However, his passion was for his pets of cats and dogs, both of which followed him around constantly and always seemed to be on the lookout for his presence. Cooking was another hobby and he always looked forward to assisting in preparation of the hog for the family hog roasts and to cooking a variety of foods to enter in the County Fair. In addition to these varied interests, building structures, repairing broken objects of any type and creating new uses for existing items hold special fascination for him from the time he was very small. Following his dad around in pursuit of this fascination led him to his chosen career of carpentry at RB Ratcliff & Associates.
Family and close friends were the center of his life and family vacations to Mexico were especially happy times.
He is preceded in death by his grandmother Mary Lou Deramo, uncle Steven McAnally and aunt Tamara Holbrook.
Michael is survived by his parents Michael and Valerie Deramo; sister Samantha Deramo, all of Brookshire, Texas; grandparents Chuck and Jene McAnally; grandfather Samuel Deramo; uncle and aunt Rick and Michele Denning; cousins Nick Denning and wife Bethany and their children Grace and Clara, Mike Denning and wife Elizabeth and their child Miles. Michael is also survived by his cousins Christopher, David and Michael Anderson.
Through the gift of organ donation his caring and compassionate nature will continue to live on through others and Michael will always be held close in the hearts of all of us who knew him.
A celebration of Michael's life will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, April 19, 2013, in the Chapel of Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Humane Society in Michael's name.

Dear Valerie, Mike and Samantha,
We are both saddened to hear about the loss of Michael. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. I have so many memories of Michael and Samantha when they came to The Rocking Horse, times when Michael along with Jake, would torment Sally and Samantha-making Sally mad and Samantha cry. I might add Emily wouldn't put up with it! Both of them saying "I'm telling mom when she comes to pick us up!" at which time Jake would grin and Michael would turn red and look away with a smile on his face. You always came expecting some sort of altercation to sort out. Another moment was when the girls challenged the boys to a pirate raft competition. Each team, dressed as pirates and armed with a side of an old wooden playhouse roof, a broom handle, some sail cloth and spray paint etc. The race was on. Thinking this was a great activity in "team building" NOT TO BE, the boys decided messing with the girls attempts was much more satisfying, resulting in yet another battle. Great times really. Later on in his life we would see Michael at the annual hog roast, something Michael (mine) would so look forward to especially the preparation night before. Then more recently as I was preparing to leave my Rocking Horse days behind and Janet and JoAnne would take over Michael would come and fix the doors, and the leaky tap. I will miss knowing the he is in this world somewhere. And I am ever so grateful that you came to me to take care of your children. The memories of those happy times will stay with me the rest of my life. Take care of each other. We love and miss you.
