Michael Frederich Landis passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, November 22, 2025, after a long illness. He was born in El Paso, Texas, on October 4, 1957, the son of Dr. Gilbert Landis and Ruth Isenberg Landis, and graduated from Sharpstown High School. He graduated from Baylor University in 1979 with a Bachelor's degree in accounting.
After working as an accountant for an oil-drilling firm, he established his own financial advisory business, assisting individuals and small businesses. He was a student and ardent follower of the financial markets, and a dedicated steward of his clients' financial well-being. His personal interests were wide-ranging and included fishing and hunting with his old high school buddies, riding dirt bikes, and playing the guitar. He traveled often to Santa Fe and Las Vegas and even traveled to Russia.
Mike is survived by his sister, Julie Landis, and her husband, Fred Wolgel, of Bellaire; his brother, David Landis, and his wife, Ellen Neuborne, of Las Vegas; nieces, Allison Wolgel, of Los Angeles and Leslie Landis of Cambridge, Mass.; and nephews, Brian Deitch, and his wife, Emilie, of Spicewood, and Henry Landis of Pullman, Wash. Michael was also a great-uncle to Brian and Emilie's two-year-old son, Sol.
The family also wishes to thank the caregivers who took such loving care of Michael in his final months, especially Maisha Miles, Angela Jackson, and Brandi Tubbs.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, in the Sophia & Jack Bender Memorial Chapel at Beth Yeshurun Post Oak Cemetery, 7445 Awty School Lane, Houston, Texas 77055.
