Michael Moody Obituary

Michael Rice Moody
1947-2021
Michael "Mike" Moody, of The Woodlands, TX, died peacefully at his home on October 3, 2021. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Lisa Shackelford Moody, children Michael Rice Moody, II (Amberly) of Conroe, TX, Sarah Moody Sanders (Greg) of Grapevine, TX, and Edward Allen Moody (Acia) of Austin, TX. Mike is also survived by grandchildren Erin Moody of Kingwood, TX, Eli and Ryder Moody of Austin, TX and Analexa Moody of Conroe, TX. He also leaves his sister, Tod Shannon Castle, and her husband, Steve, of Houston, TX.
Mike, the son of William Dan Moody and Jeanne Lacy Moody, was born on July 16, 1947. Mike grew up in Houston and was a proud, multi-generational Houstonian. He attended Spring Branch schools and graduated from the McCallie School in Chattanooga, TN. He received his undergraduate degree from Houston Baptist College and his master's degree from the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary.
Following his college graduation, Mike entered the family business of mechanical contracting at Barber, Inc., where he worked with his father for many years. After Barber, he started his own contracting business. In the 1980s, Mike found his salvation through Jesus Christ, which led him to become an ordained minister. In the early 1990s, Mike and his family moved to Willis, TX where he began another venture in church business administration. Later, Mike found another calling in teaching and became a special education teacher in the Conroe Independent School District. Mike made a tremendous impact on the lives of his students, many of whom needed special care and attention.
Over the years, Mike had varied interests and hobbies including hunting, fishing, golf, and woodworking. Mike was a faithful Christian and continuously studied the scripture. Above all, though, Mike was devoted to his family. Simply being in the presence of his wife, children, and grandchildren was his favorite thing in the world. Mike will be missed dearly, but his family is at peace knowing his pain and suffering is no longer.
The family would like to acknowledge the incredible nurses and healthcare workers that gave Mike special attention and care these last few months. We would especially like to thank the incredible staff at Three Oaks Hospice for their dedication and loving touch.
A memorial service for Mike will be held on Wednesday October 6th at 2 pm at The Crossing Church, located at 6265 Shadowbend Place in The Woodlands, TX 77381. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to Teen Challenge (Magnolia, TX) or a charity of your choice.
