Michael Charles O'Connor passed away after a courageous battle with congestive heart failure on Monday, the 13th of September 2021, in Houston. He was 75 years of age.
Michael was born on the 6th of October 1945 in Dallas to Robert Charles and Thelma O'Connor, and graduated from Highland Park High School in 1963 where he played on the Highland Park football team.
He attended Rice University and was a starting lineman on the Rice football team, graduating in 1967.
Michael graduated first in his class from the University of Texas School of Law, with the distinction of Chancellor and Order of the Coif. In 1970, Michael began his legal career at Vinson and Elkins before starting his own law firm in Houston, where he continued to practice law for over thirty-five years. Michael was an extremely successful trial lawyer, and highly skilled advisor to thousands of clients.
In 1976, he married Sandy Gernsbacher and they shared a beautiful marriage for forty-five years. The two brought three daughters into the world, to whom Michael was an adoring and doting father. His devotion to his wife, children and grandchildren was unending.
Michael is survived by his beloved wife, Sandy. His adored children, Stephanie and her husband Ryan, Laura and her husband Chris, and Lesley and his cherished grandchildren, Matthew and Caroline.
Michael's family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Michael's long time cardiologist, Dr. Joggy George, for his tireless supervision and care of Michael.
A funeral service and celebration of his life is to be conducted at ten o'clock in the morning on Friday, the 17th of September in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons at 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.
