Milan Trojan Obituary

Milan Trojan
1931-2018
Milan was born on the 11th of June 1931 to Rudolf and Marie Trojan in the fairy-tale city of Prague, Czechoslovakia (now Czech Republic). He graduated from a Commercial Academy in Prague in 1950 and worked first as an editor for the Czechoslovak Press Agency and for a magazine "World of Motors. After that he joined the Czechoslovak Chamber of Commerce as a technical director. He married his first wife, Jarka Krejca, MD, in 1955. Their son, Michael, arrived in 1958. In 1964, they decided to defect their country ruled then by the communist regime. After an eight month stay in Vienna, Austria, they obtained their U.S. immigration vizas and came to live in Texas.
As time goes by and people part, Jarka and Milan did too (1975). He worked at the time in Houston as a design manager for the Texas Highway Department (now Texas Department of Transportation). It was where he later met his second wife, Sonja, who talked him out of staying for the rest of his life alone. They married in 1986 and together they spent a long lasting life chapter where harmony and happiness always prevailed. In January, they celebrated a 32 year anniversary of remarkable togetherness. Their family schedule was always full of heavy traveling, heavy duty care of stray animals and, when there was some time leftover, taking care of grandchildren and each other was always kept in view. And, yes, there was 32 wonderful Christmases, a dozen of trips to Hawaii, and some to Europe; cruises, etc. Well be it as if it may, needless to mention that not every day was sunny. Some health problems turned out to be quite serious. A few major surgeries were required to straighten them out. The most current Milan's disease, though, was diagnosed as malignant and not curable… And since time really waits for no one, on July 26, 2018 Milan passed away, but not before he assured everybody around that he lived long enough. "No need to mourn," he would say and add a joke. He will be deeply missed. He was a humble, kind gentleman. Milan's survivors are his beloved wife Sonja; son Michael and wife Mary; grandsons Robert and Sam; son-in-law Christopher Wilson and wife Lori; sister-in-law Nancy Beal and many other relatives and friends. As requested by the deceased, after a private cremation there will be no funeral and/or memorial services.

Michael, I worked with your dad right after I graduated from School. Great guy with very interesting stories and he had a different & great sense of humor. I still think of him occasionally.

I met Milan on a trip to Austin, TX. Upon meeting him, it felt as though I'd known him for years. He was a very gentle, gracious and funny man. In this world, when people are not always kind, he will be remembered as one of the kinder souls, a true gentleman. All prayers and thoughts for his beloved Sonja, family and friends.

Sonja,

Prayers go out to you and your precious family. I know you will miss your Dear Milan but know that God called his son and he came. Sometimes the Good Lord needs the great ones more than we do. Just know your TXDOT family is by your side. God Bless my friend,

I never met Milan but I felt a very strong positive connection to him after reading his biography. He was indeed an unassuming kind hearted man that loved with all his heart! May his soul find rest in the lord and may the Lord give those he left behind the fortitude to bear his irreparable demise!

Always kind, easy-going personality. Loved his family and his animals with all his heart. Unassuming and respectful of others. As he aged, he preferred the quiet life.
