Nancy Elliott Obituary

Nancy Elliott
12/28/1939 - 10/04/2025
Nancy Sibley Elliott of Houston, Texas passed away peacefully on October 4, 2025, at the age of 85.

Nancy was born on December 28, 1939, in Terre Haute, Indiana to Charles Robert Sibley and Dorothy June (Dieckmann) Sibley. She grew up in the Midwest alongside her younger brother, Charles Richard (Dick) Sibley, whom she cherished deeply.

While in college at Miami of Ohio, Nancy met the love of her life, Paul Charles Elliott, and after a brief courtship, they married in 1960, beginning a partnership that lasted nearly 60 years until Paul's passing in 2020. They lived their early years of marriage in Findlay, Ohio, where Paul worked for Marathon Oil Company. Like many in the oil business in the 1970s, Paul and Nancy moved their family of four young children to Houston, Texas, a city they loved and where they would spend the rest of their lives. Together they enjoyed the entrepreneurial opportunities that Houston offered and they built a beautiful life while raising a family in a home filled with love and laughter.

Nancy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose warmth and strength shaped generations. Nancy was also a hardworking and accomplished businesswoman. She owned and operated The Villager Gift Shop for 33 years. Her impeccable sense of style, warm relationships, and dedication to her work made her shop a beloved part of the Memorial community. Beyond her professional life, Nancy found joy in the everyday - a good cup of coffee, a tall stack of magazines, and time spent with family.

Nancy is survived by her four children: Elizabeth E. Murski and husband Bill; Paul R. Elliott and wife Nancy; Robert S. Elliott and wife Kristy; and Jennifer E. Barrett. She took tremendous pride and joy in her grandchildren: Katie Peacock and husband Tom Peacock, Annie Murski, Emily Elliott, David Elliott and wife Kristen, Lauren Lafleur and husband Trent, Blake Elliott, Caroline LaHue and husband Brennan, and Jack "Jeb" Barrett. Her family continued to grow with the arrival of her great-grandchildren: Cooper, Ellie, and Claire Peacock.

Nancy will be remembered for her kindness, humor, and generous spirit. She leaves behind a legacy of love, perseverance, and faith that will continue to inspire all who knew her.

A memorial service for Nancy will be held at Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church at 10 a.m. on Friday October 17th in Houston, Texas, Pastor Clay Brown presiding. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Yesterday

Always remember Aunt Nancy with a smile on her face and remember when she visited our home as an 9 year old little girl! In Terre Haute Indiana. She gifted me with an initial pin and I was forever a fan! Sorry we lost touch but will always cherish her memory from long ago!
